In his works for children, Anatolii Dimarov is very much like himself - he is both amazingly inventive, creating comic or dramatic situations one after another, and lyrical when he talks about the great, great secrets of children, the hopes and dreams of young heroes and the eternal mysteries of life.
He is able to organically combine the Jules Verne's tradition, which expresses itself in interesting technical and technological fantasies, and a thrilling adventure plot. And the whole story is unobtrusively coloured with Dimarov's unique humour. Dramatic twists and turns in "The Second Planet" often have comic details. The terrible, the sad and the funny, as we often see in Anatoly Dimarov, organically coexist in this work.
