Short historical stories, talentedly written by a Ukrainian writer, little known to young readers, and contained in this book, will become a kind of guide to the study of the history of the native land of the times of Kievan Rus and the Galicia-Volyn principality. They were first published as a separate book in 1942 with illustrations by the artist Petro Andrusiv - also still almost unknown. These illustrations are used in this edition.
