This is a deeply psychological novel that depicts events in the countryside in the pre-revolutionary period up to the 70s. One of the leading in the work is the theme of solidarity and sacredness of the generations, loyalty to the father's field. "One of the noblest goals of human existence is to become a man, that is, to know and educate himself so as to carry good to people and be able to sacrifice his own well-being for the sake of it, and if necessary, his own life. And on the way to its achievement man is haunted by many temptations - to try, to experience, to be sure in his own experience of the truth of his way of action, thoughts and feelings. It is not easy sometimes to do the noble and generous, knowing that this will bring suffering and hardship, while the treason or tacit agreement with the evil promises prosperity and peace. This is the range of issues that the young Ukrainian writer is trying to explore in his book.
