Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961) was a prominent American writer and Nobel Prize winner.  Hemingway's style is the utmost brevity of language and at the same time an amazing visuality of description, an unusual dialogue that seems superficial but contains a deep and meaningful subtext.  All of this opens up a real artistic universe for the reader, incomparable in scale to the little that is directly described in his works.
