Along with the works of writers from mainland Ukraine, the textbook also includes works by prominent masters of our word who wrote outside their native land (Bohdan-Ihor Antonych, Yevhen Malank, Ulas Samchuk) or were repressed and their works were banned (Borys Antonenko-Davydovych, Vasyl Stus).
The rich creative heritage of our writers was stolen, but the singers, enduring persecution and oppression, created the language of the nightingale. It was majestically beautiful, because it broke through from under the solid stone, from the depths of folk life.
