This book includes selected works by the prominent Ukrainian playwright Ivan Karpenko-Kary: One Hundred Thousand, Martyn Borulia, The Host, Talentless, and Savva Chaly. They reflect the aggravation of class contradictions, the life of the rural bourgeoisie and the Cossacks in Ukraine in the second half of the nineteenth century. The selection of the texts presented is based on the school program on Ukrainian literature.
