There is probably no boy or girl in all of Poland who has not read a book about the intelligent, noble, well-mannered and resourceful Ferdinand. The Polish storyteller Ludwik Jerzy Kern invented this wonderful dog, as well as the porcelain elephant Domenik and many other funny characters. Kern's characters were so beloved by children that they awarded the writer the biggest award - the Order of the Smile. For many years his books have been published in many different countries, and in Russia "Ferdinand the Magnificent" is already in its tenth, "jubilee" edition.
