A scientific analysis of Ivan Franko's philosophical outlook is impossible without clarifying the thinker's attitude to the main philosophical question. The problem is fundamental, as it concerns the content of I. Franko's work and its belonging to the European level of culture, especially since the vast majority of studies on Franko studies emphasize the European level of the writer's thinking and creativity. However, the question arises: does pan-Europeanism as such exclude national specificity of philosophizing?

The purpose of this study is to clarify this fact: to what extent did the specifics of Ukrainian national philosophizing find expression in the views of Ivan Franko?
