Description

The popular science publication fills in a "white spot" in the history of the southeastern part of Unified Ukraine between the lower reaches of the Don and Dnipro and the Sea of Oz and the upper reaches of the tributaries of the Siverskyi Donets, the Oskol and Aidar. The population of this and adjacent territories has long influenced the development of events in Pryozivia "on the edge of two worlds". The author reveals the situation and historical fate of various tribes and peoples who lived and roamed in these steppes. Separate chapters are devoted to the Zaporizhzhia and Don Cossacks, their fraternization, and Moscow's role in breaking this friendship. A thorough description of the events of the last two centuries after the destruction of the Sich: colonization, the October Revolution, collectivization, famines, and the denationalization of non-Russian peoples - completes the picture of the genocidal policy pursued by Tsarist and Bolshevik Russia in this land rich in wheat and coal.

For teachers of history, Ukrainian language and literature, ethnography, students, high school students, and anyone who cares about the fate of Ukrainian, Greek, and other peoples in the Northern Pryoziv region.
