Володимир Малик "Князь Кий" (Історична повість)
Volodymyr Malyk wrote his novel "Prince Kiy" to the 1500th anniversary of the founding of the city, the name of which was given by the main character.
From the point of view of historians, "Kyi is the most mysterious figure. And the point is not so much that the modern historian looks at Kyi through the dizzying thickness of time in fifteen centuries, but in the uncertainty and uncertainty of rare information about him. In the barely glowing light of the extremely scanty evidence of the sources, he looks like a person who almost entirely belongs to the legendary world."
In the novel, the author recreates that ancient era when the legendary Cyrus united various related Slavic tribes, laid the foundations of a powerful state. Depicting the atmosphere, life, customs of that time, the writer tried to convince his contemporaries that the Ukrainian historical roots are much deeper and more powerful than some "older brothers" would like. "I wanted to show our roots. This is Kyiv land, this is the foundation of Ukraine. With my novel, I wanted to show the reader, especially the young one, who we are, where we came from."
