Waking up after a long sleep, medieval European science discovered the vast horizons of ancient Greek scientific thought and proclaimed Aristotle (384-322 BC) the first among the greatest scientists of antiquity. It was his works in various fields of science that became the foundation of new knowledge of mankind.
However, none of his works can be compared in terms of influence and popularity to the treatise Poetics ("On the Art of Poetry"), which is an attempt to comprehend the experience gained by ancient Greek poetry, theater, and fine arts, as well as to summarize the theoretical research of ancient Greek philosophers.
