Petro Yatsenko "The Return of the Fools" (Роман)
The stylishly written novel by Petro Yatsenko "Return of the Fools" can be read from different perspectives: as a fascinating adventure of two eccentrics who strangely protest against our reality; as an allegory of the absurdity of human existence: two varieties seem more real than those people who consider themselves normal, so who is really normal-the majority or the minority that is for some reason called fools? And the most interesting reading of the novel is through the prism of "Lviv as a text": it does not mention Lviv anywhere, but the spirit of the city of Lion is conveyed with great power. It is no exaggeration to say that the writer creates a new dimension of "Lviv as a text" in The Return of the Fools (here we can add his novel The Lviv Saga). The actors of the Chernihiv Youth Theater also read the novel in their own way, staging The Return of the Fools as an attempt to reach an understanding with Petro Yatsenko.
